About Me
I started my career as an undergraduate at Colgate University where I studied Astronomy-Physics and Computer Science. I also ran for the Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams as a long distance runner.
For my graduate degree, I studied at Cornell University under Dr. Jim Cordes. Besides academic work, I was a member of the Astronomy Grads Network, the Cornell Running Club, the Cornell Track and Field Club, and the High Noon Athletic Club.
For my postdoc, I worked at West Virginia University in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. I worked under Dr. Maura McLaughlin and rescued the best beagle ever, Capella, who was the unofficial mascot of the department.
In my professional career, I have spent time as an assistant professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the Rochester Institute of Technology, a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Colgate, and in industry as a lead scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton. Currently, I am a research scientist at the SETI Institute, where I continue my research work. I live in Massachusetts with my wife Kristina and dachshund, Isaac Newton (“Newt”). I still go out for runs with Capella, like to go on hikes, and read science fiction novels.
